Colorado Pastors’ Retreat Spring 2008 A pastors' retreat is being offered at Easy Yoke Ranch retreat center in Beulah, CO, April 7-9, 2008 (Monday lunch through Wednesday lunch) with a focus on extended personal times of prayer and meditation. This retreat is open to any pastor seeking a time of renewal and an opportunity to step back from the press of ongoing responsibilities. The retreat will include extended periods of silence and solitude for individual reflection, input on the practice of selected spiritual disciplines in a context where there is an opportunity to practice them, and time to learn about other spiritual formation opportunities following the retreat. This retreat is a repeat of one held in September 2007 which got very positive reviews from the participants. As with the previous retreat, this one is a small and intimate retreat limited to 12 participants. We were not able to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend the September retreat so early registration is suggested. Spiritual disciplines and prayer Individual practice of various spiritual disciplines varies considerably from one person to another, as do approaches to prayer. This variation is expected to be evident within this personal retreat. Individual pastors can spend their time engaged in practices they already prefer or they can participate in consultations about new practices or approaches to prayer they wish to pursue during the retreat. Concise written materials on such practices will be available as well. Each person's time of retreat will be individually tailored to their personal preferences and can vary considerably in terms of how much time they spend in solitude or in discussion of personal approaches to Christian spirituality. Limited enrollment Because of the nature of the retreat, enrollment will be limited to 12 people. Enrollment is on a first come-first served basis. Accommodations will be either in a double room (single beds) which includes its own bathroom or in a single room with the bathroom across the hall. Cost The total cost of this retreat is $197 for a person in a single room which covers everything while you are here–food, lodging, materials, etc. If you share a double room with another pastor, the total fee for the retreat is $157. If your budget cannot handle this expense, you can apply for the limited scholarship funds which are available for partial coverage of the fee. Location Located in the Wet Mountains only a half hour drive west of Pueblo, Easy Yoke Ranch is easily accessible from both Pueblo and Colorado Springs, as well as other parts of Colorado. Retreat leader The retreat will be led by Dr. Ronald Anderson, a retired university professor and long-time local church lay leader. He has served as a spiritual director for pastors as well as a retreat leader.
